The good people and the world

The more we stay, the more we learn

Now-a-days, I find it difficult to transfer my emotions into words. It’s just overwhelming and when it’s not, I don’t feel like writing. What you see now is just the balance of the both. Every story that I wrote, expounds on a major impression in my life, that which changed my course. And, this one too, will talk about one.

I’ve recently read the book “How do you live?” by Genzaburo Yoshino. In short, this book had shown me what it means to be human. Not that it gives a definition, but exposes us to the nuances in life and how we can always listen to our inner voice, no matter what.

And now, I make sense a lot of related matters which concerned me lately.
I always thought,

  • Why there are people starving in this modern era when one side of the globe is struggling with obesity?
  • There are millions of people graduating all around the world, but why do we still see corruption, social unrest, wars, etc? Why don’t we educate ourselves on how to be human?
  • Why is this world structured in a way where the young people are trained & forced to be selfish and taught to use their skills, not to help others, but just to thrive in their own life?
  • Why does it always have to be a zero-sum game? Can’t we, with all our might, create a beautiful world where people can just live their lives fully?

These, and more, never made sense to me.

I think what we lack is the balance.
The more we teach the young to thrive, it is our duty, to put more emphasis to say that a life is of no worth if it doesn’t help other lives to thrive as well. To make the generation of people realize that we should be ashamed to live a life of grandeur when our neighbors are suffering from poverty. That whatever skills we acquire should not only be used for our own good but also for our greater society. That it’s not enough just to think, but also to feel.
Provided that we have huge issues threatening all lives in the world like climate change, which is just a product of massive lack of concern, it’s time we change the theme on how we teach the young, inside-out.

Alright. My writing always feels half-finished, at least to me. Maybe it’ll get sorted out as I grow. :)
